First Edition Points and Criteria for The Firm

Author Last Name: Grisham
Author First Name: John

Original Price: $19.95

"First Edition" is stated on copyright page above "1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2" number line, and below "March 1991". No date present on the title page.

There are two states of the first printing. The first state has light gray boards with black cloth spine (some say it is navy blue, and this might be due to fading). The second state has dark gray boards (some say the dark gray is really black) with the same black/navy blue boards. The first state boards have only been found on first printings; and the second state boards has been found on some first printings and all subsequent printings, which leads us to believe that the first state came first. The pastedown endpapers on the first state is slightly textured and is a richer gold color than the second state's endpapers.

Also note that the book club edition also states first edition and has a full number line. But it states April 1991 rather than March 1991, and the boards are cheaper black paper.
