Steinbeck wrote The Pearl screenplay in 1945, but the movie was not released until 1947. Likewise the book was not published until 1947. I am not aware of a published copy of the screenplay from 1945.

My book "The Pearl" has all exact markings of first edition but the inside front dust jacket says second printing at the far left of the $2.00 price. Does anyone know if this is the second printing of the first edition?
