"FIRST EDITION" is stated on copyright page above "T 09/77" with no statements of subsequent printings. Boards are blue/green with gold lettering on a green spine. Later printings have blue boards with the same green spine and gold lettering. Back of dust jacket has a single blurb by Ralph Ellison. The dust jacket seems to be unchanged through at least the third printing with the exception of a removable Pulitzer Prize sticker.

Elbow Room won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
