The first edition seems to lack an explicit indicator such as first edition statements, roman numerals, or number lines.

There are editions that have an unusual print code on the title page rather than the copyright page (1 2 3 4 5 CR 7595), and although the copyright on these books state 1945, 1946, boards on these books look suspiciously modern when compared to those from other vintage 1946 books. These book also have LB on the copyright page, which likely stands for Little Brown. Little Brown began handling production and distribution of Duell, Sloan and Pearce publications in 1951. Thus these number lined books are likely to be later printings and not first editions.

We will continue to research this book. Please check back later for more information about the book and the dust jacket.
