The title page date must match the copyright date (1929). First printing dust jacket is rare and adds most of the value to the book. There are two states of the first printing dust jacket. In the first state, the front flap begins with "Riding over the desert comes Laughing Boy to attend the ceremonial dance at Tse Lani." In the second state dust jacket the front flap begins with "Riding over the desert, out of the wild north country where white men are little known, comes Laughing Boy, a warrior of the Navajos."
