The first edition of this Pulitzer Prize winner was published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux in 1998. It was 229 pages long, and the original retail price was $22.00. The first edition identification points are as follows: "First Edition" is stated with no references to other printings. Boards are two-tone - the spine section is brown and the rest of the book is tan. Book club editions are not two-tone.

The Hours won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the PEN/Faulkner Award.
