FIRST EDITION is stated on the copyright page. Boards are white cloth with gilt lettering on front and on spine. Dust jacket has no reviews. Back of dust jacket has quote from the author's Introduction. The back jacket flap is blank except for jacket design by-line, and printed in the U.S.A. statement.

The book is a collection of early stories - "The Small Rain," "Low-lands," "Entropy," "Under the Rose," and "The Secret Integration." But the 23 page Introduction is the real gem of this book. In it Pynchon writes about himself and about how he writes.
