Thank you so much for having this information available. I have a copy of this book that is the 19th. printing-number line only has 19 (movie tie-in). I also have one where the Random House number line is 1987654321. Can you give me any guidance as to the printing on this one? The only date on the copyright page is at the top-(1994). Thank you in advance ! Linda

Which copy do I have? The copyright page and book jacket information do not match what you have above.
For instance: 1. Beneath "Manufactured in the United States of America" there is nothing but "F98." There is no line of numbers or statement like "First Printing." 2. The jacket has a "Autographed Copy" sticker. The book is signed by the author on the first blank page. 3. Inside the jacket the US price is $24. (FPT is listed in the far left corner). 4. The inside back of the jacket cover reads "Printed USA 1/94" and c 1993 Random House, Inc. 5. The Ann Beattie blurb is third from the top on the back of jacket. 6. The typo "fmr" on page 11 has been corrected.
I've looked all over the net and this site has offered me the only usable information.
Thank you in advance for any information you can send my way. Rebecca

Rebecca, Your copy is a later printing. When Random House books go through more than 9 printings the publisher inserts a letter in the middle of the number line, and it again begins with one. The futher into the alphabet the letter is the later the printing.

Well lets see. If B begins the 10th printing number line, then F should kick off the 50th printing. Because the 2 and the 1 are missing, it looks to me like the 53rd printing.
